Does anyone have an extra ticket for tonight? After a few years of not seeing the Hold Steady - after seeing them 10 times - I really want to get back in the scene.

I was at both the baltimore show and the show last night. Thought both were good, but that Baltimore was a lot better because of baltimore's awesome killer parties closer. Also, anyone else think that craig's voice was drowned out for much of last night and that tad's guitar wasn't loud enough for either show. Not too sound like an old man, but because U Hall is so small, it was overwhelmingly loud too. Lastly, did I just miss it or did craig not give his 'there his so much joy' speech in dc? doesn't he always?

I'll caution that the audio isn't so great since we were right up front...and the photogs were allowed to shoot the first 3 songs, but here's video of the first public performance of Records and Tapes:

listened to a bit of my recording just now. it came out ok. there's definitely going to be a little bit of snaps and pops thoughout, particularly on hard cracks of the snare. nothing i can do about that though. i wasn't in a good spot for recording but in an excellent spot for some positive rage. hehee! the good news is that the recording will still be listenable, just not up to the standards of the stuff i've done in the past.
i'll try to get something posted tonight or tomorrow.

aaaaaand tragedy. the sd card i recorded onto got corrupted and i lost the file of this show. i had sampled it directly on my recorder before to see if it turned out ok. but when i went to copy it to my computer to edit, my machine crashed and not only did i not get a copy of on my hard drive, but i also lost the original file.
sorry dudes. gutted.
