 stay positive tattoo?
« Thread Started on Apr 9, 2009, 2:23pm »

hopefully someone other than me will remember this... back on the old board, there was some discussion of tattoos after a few people had gotten the stay positive logo, and in the thread somewhere, someone posted a drawing of a traditional style tattoo, with a ship being dragged down by a squid(?) and the words "stay positive" in the old-school lettering above it. it was really a great drawing. i've been getting the itch to get some new ink lately, and i'm a huge fan of the old-school stuff. anyone know where i can find it, or know where the post would be? many thanks!

Send me a PM with your email address... and I'll send it to you tonight as a .jpeg attachment from my laptop. I use the pic as my wallpaper. It's boss.

(That is, If no one else posts it here before I can get home... I'm on PST.)

Next time I get back to Pain & Wonder in Athens I'm getting the logo in a distressed, carved stone style on my forearm. I'm getting the words above and below too, and upside down so they're legible when my fist is in the air. rawk.

thanks everyone; the piece is just as awesome as i remembered it. i might have to change it a little bit, as i think it's a little too big for the space i want to put it, but once it's done i'll be sure to post a photo.

one more question - anyone know the name of the guy/girl who drew it up? whenever anyone asks about my ink, i like to be able to give credit to whoever designed it. i find tattooists and artists alike appreciate it.

if it's the picture i posted, then i drew it. (i seem to remember someone else posting a similar picture which was adapted from somebody else's work before that in the original thread, though...)

Im very leary of band tattoos. Im 40 and I know a lot of people who have the AC/DC or the Van Halen logo and now don't think It was such a wise choice.

*first post on the new board*

I was the one who posted the original a while back (five alive posted it above).

I just got it two weeks ago - it looks great. I decided to leave off the SP logo from the sail, for the reason that sactochris mentioned above, heh. "Stay Positive" is universal enough as-is.

Noah from Moo Tattoo on South St. in Philly did the work. I'll post a pic of it later on.

i generally agree; band names and logos are probably not a wise idea, but the sentiment of song lyrics is alright, for me anyway. i have a skeleton riding a motorcycle with "tramps like us, baby we were born to run" to commemorate the time i spent traveling, and some roses with "because you're mine, i walk the line" in honor of my wedding day. they're two of my favorite tattoos, and those lyrics will always ring true for me.

a friend of mine, on the other hand, thinks his "slayer" logo tattoo is the worst one he has, and i concur.

I got a tom petty tattoo about 5 years ago. I still dig it but it's on my back so I only see it evey once in a while in the mirror, and it still kind of surprises me. But 5 years aint too long. Time will tell...

That's why I'd get the Stay Positive logo.
It's not just a band logo, it's a way of life.

I'm thinking about getting the Stay Positive logo this Sunday on Easter, for obvious reasons.

I just got the Stay Positive logo tattooed on me yesterday. Love the band and love the whole idea of staying positive as a way of life. I'm very happy.

Check with me in 10 years and I'm hoping I'll still feel the same. I got a DMB tattoo about 10-11 years ago and while I don't love them anymore I do appreciate what they meant to me, etc. I won't lie that I am happy I can easily hide that one :)

Behold a white arm:

The only (minor) issue I have with it is the spot on the sail, but i'll go back in another few weeks and get that touched up.

Also: camera flashes make my beard look so scraggly.
